Employer Seeking to Join MERS
Employers seeking to participate in the Municipal Employees’ Retirement System of Louisiana should contact MERS at 225-925-4810 or 1-800-820-1137 to speak with Lacey Waguespack for more information on joining MERS.
MERS welcomes all inquiries concerning membership participation. Please contact the office to determine whether your organization qualifies to become a participating employer.
Employer Agreement Requirements
A participating employer must enter into an agreement for coverage with MERS. The governing authority must approve participation, and the Board of Trustees must approve an agreement before coverage is extended.
The MERS Administrative Rules provide additional requirements for employer agreements, including the governing-authority resolution and Board approval process.
