Retirement Eligibility Requirements
Your retirement eligibility depends on your Plan and when you enrolled in MERS.

PLAN A — TIER I
First Enrollment before January 1, 2013
- 10 years of service at age 60
- 25 years of service at any age
- 20 years of service at any age — Actuarially Reduced Early Retirement
PLAN A — TIER II
First Enrollment January 1, 2013 or later
- 7 years of service at age 67
- 10 years of service at age 62
- 30 years of service at age 55
- 25 years of service at any age — Actuarially Reduced Early Retirement
PLAN B — TIER I
First Enrollment before January 1, 2013
- 10 years of service at age 60
- 30 years of service at any age
PLAN B — TIER II
First Enrollment January 1, 2013 or later
- 7 years of service at age 67
- 10 years of service at age 62
- 30 years of service at age 55
- 25 years of service at any age — Actuarially Reduced Early Retirement
Eligibility to enter DROP: You must be an active member, eligible for regular retirement to be eligible to enter DROP.
