Employers

Welcome to your retirement benefits plan with the Municipal Employees' Retirement System of Louisiana (MERS).  This section is filled with information needed for your office to enroll employees, submit monthly contribution reports, and maintain employee and employer information.

The MERS Administrative Handbook is a step by step instruction manual explaining the employers' responsibilities with the retirement system.

Forms needed are located in the "Forms" tab on the right side of this page.  Do not use any forms you find in your office or desk.  The forms on the website are updated regularly to keep up with MERS' current laws and policies.  If there is a request that does not have a form, call this office to request the procedure.

If you are a new employee to MERS and MERS is your job responsibility, call this office to speak to Lacey Weimer to either schedule a phone conference or meeting to provide training.

This office is available to give presentations to your employees explaining their benefits and eligibility for retirement.  Call Lacey Weimer at   225-925-4810 or 800-820-1137 to schedule a presentation.

The Retirement and Accounting staff are available Monday - Thursday, 8:00 to 4:00 and Fridays, 8:00 - noon to answer questions you may have concerning the retirement system.  The few minutes it takes to make a phone call to this office to clarify a procedure, policy, or answer a question instead of assuming you are performing the task correctly will eliminate hours or weeks of research and corrections.  Remember, no question is insignificant.  This office is happy to answer any question, large or small.

MERS' priority is to service our membership in a timely and efficient manner, and to respond to all requests.
